Over the span of a two-day time frame, in three separate car accidents, a child, a teenager, and a middle-aged woman were all killed while attempting to cross busy streets in San Jose, California.
According to San Jose police, these car accidents have brought the pedestrian fatality count up to an alarmingly high 24 auto-pedestrian wrongful deaths this year alone in San Jose. The first of the three motor vehicle accidents occurred when a motorist hit a group of three children crossing at the intersection of Oak and Vine streets to visit a nearby playground. A 3 year-old boy injured in the auto crash died an hour after arriving at the hospital.
That same evening, a 14 year-old girl was killed in an accident which occurred while the girl was crossing White Road. Neighbors reported to the police that the intersection is very dangerous. In fact, the intersection already bears a rose to honor the spot where a person was killed in May of this year.
The third fatal car accident occurred the following night just before 11:00 p.m. A 50 year-old transient was crossing Monterey Road and was hit by a motor vehicle. The man died at the scene.
