Marshfield, MA residents Clifton and Dorothy Thayer and their son, Jonathan, were told they could not return to their home on Saturday, September 9. This was after a man crashed his car into their house and rendered it uninhabitable.
The Thayers were awakened Saturday morning by the sound of a car plowing into their home at 2:45 AM. Police believe the driver of the car, who suffered minor personal injuries in the car accident, was speeding around a dangerous curve in Marshfield when he lost control of his car, struck a large rock in front of the house next door, and then crashed into the Thayer’s home.
The Thayers had lived in the house, which was built in 1725, for 42 years. The American Red Cross is providing the Thayers with temporary housing while they consider their options.
