A father and son ended up in the hospital this past Sunday June 16th, after being struck by an out-of-control van in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
A father and son spent this year’s Father’s Day in the hospital after they were hit by a speeding van that ran a red light. At around 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, the van was traveling westbound on Arch Street when it ran the red light at 19th Street. The van proceeded to smack into a police cruiser and then spun and hit the 38 year-old father and his son.
The father was taken to University of Pennsylvania Hospital emergency room with a broken leg. He is currently listed in stable condition. His son was rushed to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia emergency room to be treated for minor bumps and bruises in the car accident. He is staying at the hospital for further observation.
The police officer who was struck while in his cruiser was transported to Hahnemann University Hospital emergency room to be examined. He suffered minor back injuries but since has been released.
The driver of the van has been arrested and Philadelphia police are continuing to investigate the three-car crash.
